2020 Pioneer Territory CASA Training Classes

Its NEVER too late! Register NOW for Spring 2020 CASA Training Class

2019 saw the installment of 15 new CASA's! Unfortunately, our work is never-ending. There are still over thirty (30) children in foster care in our community that have NO VOICE representing them in court. While lawyers on both sides submit piles of documentation and briefs to the court, these children get no say in their future. Sound heart-breaking?

Please consider becoming a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). On average, it only takes about 3-4 hours per month of your time! Pioneer Territory CASA provides you with all of the training and on-going support and guidance you will need.

April 2020 ONLINE Training schedule:

Orientation: Saturday, April 18 9:00AM-Noon (by appointment only at the CASA office)

Training: Every Monday & Thursday 5:30-8:30PM, April 20 - June 11 (8 weeks of ONLINE training!)

Fall 2019 New CASAs!

November 26, 2019

PT CASA's Fabulous Four!

The Honorable Judge Robert W. Lane of the 5th Judicial Court in Nye County presided over the official installation of four new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)! These volunteers will serve as the voice for children in court proceedings who are in the foster care system in Nye and Esmeralda Counties in Southwestern Nevada.

Judge Lane said, "For the last thirty years, first as a prosecutor and 20 years as a judge...I see the same group of people stepping up and volunteering in their community." Lane described the affect of a CASA in the courtroom as a fleeting moment in time that helps him determine the best decision, however, "as a CASA, you will have a life-long positive impact on the life of a child."
